Although, these later episodes aren’t as consistently splendid as the first three seasons, there are definitely some gems here. What has become one of my favorites of all-time is “Whale of a Birthday.” I must have watched this one a dozen times already and I composed want to peruse it again! Most episodes that feature that over-dramatic typical teen-ager Pearl are hilarious anyway, but this one cracks me up every time! That song “It’s All About You” is astronomical and Squidward’s “I Need 4-Ply When I Roar” is too powerful! That one episode alone is worth getting this area, but there are other top-notch ones as well.

“Chimps Ahoy”: Sandy’s underwater tree house has been funded by a group of educated chimps. Having yet to do an invention to interpret her funding, Sandy’s unnerved she’ll have to leave Bikini Bottom. SB and Patrick try to place Sandy’s job.

“Whale of a Birthday”: It’s Pearl’s 16th birthday, and Mr. Krabs better not be cheap this time!

“Karate Island”: SB wins a saunter to a mysterious island to be crowned “king of karate,” but Sandy is skeptical.

“All That Glitters”: SB’s beloved spatula breaks while trying to flip a monster krabby patty. While waiting for it to recover in the hospital (uh…yeah) SB sells literally the shirt off his befriend to consume a state-of-the-art “Le Spatula.” He soon regrets betraying his exact “Spat.”

“Modern Leaf”: Plankton decides to give up the formula-stealing business and start a knick-knack shop. Mr. Krabs can’t absorb his nemesis has changed.

“Once Bitten”: Gary the Snail starts uncharacteristically biting everyone in Bikini Bottom. Patrick exacerbates things by spreading a rumor about Inflamed Snail Disease turning victims into zombies. I like the allotment where SB jumps on a bus to hasten the zombies only to be dropped off on the other side of the street. Example of lifeless jokes that seem to display up more than in earlier episodes: SB squeezes through the door of the Krusty Krab and then begs Mr. Krabs to let him in.

“Bummer Vacation”: Mr. Krabs has to let SB go on vacation so he hires Patrick as an unpaid intern. SB, at first, can’t finish away and then he thinks it’s a conspiracy. “Wigstruck”: SB finds a rock star’s repulsive, Mozart-on-steroids, wig and thinks it makes people overjoyed but, in fact, they are making fun of him. Comic episode, but genuine message I guess: SB to Sandy: “I got so remarkable enjoyment out of the wig myself, I assumed everyone else did, too.”

“Squidtastic Voyage”: Sandy wants to try her “Chamber of Shrinkage” to shrink a submarine to retrieve a clarinet reed stuck in Squid’s throat. Patrick and SB accidentally open it. As Sandy tells SB: “This is approximately 17 times harder to drive than a boatmobile, which you’ve never successfully done, heh, heh.”

“That’s No Lady”: A misunderstanding has Patrick believing he must leave town, so SB has him wear a disguise–as Patricia. Has its droll moments.

“Hocus Pocus”: SB gets a magic kit and is horrified he’s turned Squid into an ice cream cone. Does a half-hearted Wizard of Oz take-off.

“The Thing”: “Can’t a hard-working squid rep a petite TV time alone.” Not with you-know-who next door. As Squid tries to score away from his annoying neighbors, he rides his bike into a cement truck and is encased in cement. SB and Patrick mistake him for an endangered species. This is a silly one. I like when Squid is thrown in the zoo truck with the furious clam.

“Driven to Tears”: SB has failed his driver’s test 58 times. He feels even worse when Patrick passes his first try.

“Rule of the Lifeless”: Patrick finds out he’s descendant from kings and the royal treatment goes to his head. Fun detail: Patrick has a library book called “How to Read.”

“Best Frenemies”: A unusual kelp shake restaurant gives Plankton and Mr. Krabs a celebrated enemy.

“Born to Be Wild”: SB and Patrick prepare to defend Bikini Bottom from an soon-to-be-arriving biker gang.

“Squid Wood”: After numerous playtime rejections, SB creates a puppet Squidward who is more talented and more celebrated than the actual Squidward (well, that’s not saying grand) .

“The Pink Purloiner”: SB suspects Patrick has stolen his prized jelly fishing catch.

“Best Day Ever”: All of SB’s plans for his expansive day unravel. This episode is predictable and a limited considerable to retract. Since when can Squidward book a clarinet recital, anyway.

“The Gift of Gum”: This is naaaaasty! Patrick gives SB his collection of feeble chewing gum for Best Friend’s Day and SB is not certain how to net rid of it without hurting Patrick’s feelings. Totally improper, man!

It has recently been announced what episodes will be on this set:

Back in 1990, I was one of the many who was turned away by the fact that it wasn’t “the same He-Man as what I’m veteran to.” I was one of the biggest critics of this series. But now, having seen the episodes, I will admit that it was all nitpicking. The action in this is blooming qualified, and the continuity is grand. That makes up for it. The downside is Skeletor being turned into He-Man’s respond to Batman’s Joker. But it’s Skeletor, at least they kept him in it, that’s what counts. Him and Flogg are a aesthetic apt team…or so Skeletor would like Flogg to mediate, anyway. ;-) While I unruffled regard the novel He-Man as the sterling version, this version wasn’t all that terrible, if you lift the time to contemplate it.

The second and final volume of the Modern Adventures of He-Man marks the waste of Jetlag Productions’ challenging grasp on the He-Man franchise. I talked a bit about the fact that this incarnation of the Mattel property is often considered the dusky sheep of the He-Man family in my review of the first volume and while the material remains consistent here in the second, my feelings on the indicate as a whole are unexcited quite definite. To elaborate, this is undeniably the most different (and often strangest) employ of the He-Man characters in any of the various versions of the franchise in any medium (including funny books, animation, live action films etc.) Many fans of the current Filmation point to immediately dismiss the Fresh Adventures objective because it is so different from what they’re accustomed to. I attempted to enter into this review with no preconceived expectations and refrained from the inevitable comparisons with its counterparts. Unfortunately, I wasn’t completely successful, especially after having viewed this, the second half of the only (65 episode) season of the program that aired from 1989-1990 in daily syndication.

I heaped on the praise in the first volume of the Current Adventures of He-Man for the consistency that the show’s writers displayed in keeping the chronicle congruous and the attention to detail they possessed in having shrimp place developments carry along into later episodes. Truly no stone was left uncovered by the destroy of the 6-disc site, if even sometimes requiring a patient viewer to revisit a point of confusion several episodes (or even discs) further down the line. Don’t gather me inferior, while the second half of the season (episodes 34-65) carries on with this tradition, the residence developments taper off magnificent early on and don’t return until the final disc. It’s only natural, I screech, to accelerate a dinky dry on ideas when talking about the business of developing 65 episodes for a single season, and this becomes quite apparent in the early-middle allotment of this collection.

The view of Skeletor plotting to slay He-Man starts to wear a minute thin as the backbone of literally every single episode. Especially considering that we are treated to glimpses of such a rich universe filled with though-provoking creatures and cultures. I’m certain the show’s creative team began to feel this as well which would define why beginning in episode 53 the point to dramatically shifts gears to focus on the planet Necron and an ongoing battle between two exclusive races (the Mytes and Gleanons) which ultimately results in Critta going off to join the Gleanons and Mara becoming queen of the serene Mytes. Pleasing enough, except that in exchange for Mara’s departure, the Galactic Guardians inherit a Myte ambassador named Bimo who’s character never really develops into anything memorable. Both races, their world, and their struggle is eerily reminiscent of another favorite absorbing series out around the time called Bucky O’Hare (those of you too young to remember the note, feel free to google away) . It’s upright about as we’re introduced to the Necron action that the four bumbling scientists fro, the first volume depart from the show’s roster never to again return. I’m convinced that their charm and style of humor was more at home in the far east than it ever was here in the U.S. as they were never quite able to collect a following to the likes of Filmation’s Orko or Cowl (in fact I struggled for weeks to even figure out all of their names) .

Buy,Download, Or Stream The New Adventures of He-Man, Vol. 2! Click Here

Before episode 53, seek information from a heavenly urge of the mill mixed bag of episode themes and styles. The first few discs basically hold up where the last site leaves off. Slush-Head gets married in one, Sagitar gets his acquire aid narrative in another. One focuses on a woman with an obsession for He-Man. About the strangest episode among the stout 65 would have to be #51, Rock to the Future. In it, a slack 1980s era rock star is somehow transported into the future where Skeletor decides to exploit his talent (and I exhaust the term very loosely) in a place to, what else, kill He-Man. Not only does this whole scene fit nowhere else in the cannon of the series, it comes off every bit as irregular in action as it sounds in writing. About the only memorable allotment of the whole affair comes in the name of the rock star himself, Hank Rappa, not to be confused with Frank Zappa of course.

As stated above, the meat of the middle of this space centers on the Necron wars with He-Man and Skeletor’s shallow bickering added in for posterity. However, the prove actually concludes with an ongoing space that manages to mimic some of the finer moments in the first volume. Beginning in episode #60 and finally concluding in #65, the main cast is whisked away to a distant planet to participate in “the Games”, a sporting event hosted by alien life forms to resolve who will rule all. Side note: Said alien life forms cruise around in vehicles so distinguished like the Death Star from Star Wars that one might wonder how George Lucas doesn’t accumulate royalties from this one. Anyway, while the games themselves are a bit of a let down (3 events to choose the fate of the universe) the station building and ultimate determine are shapely satisfying.

Also worthy is the fact that the show’s creative staff must have known that #65 would not only imprint the raze of the first season but also the Modern Adventures of He-Man entirely, as they tailored the final demonstrate as a bit of farewell. Closure is very rare in the realm of cartoons! Many questions will remain unanswered (such as who are all of the current guys in the Galactic Guardians and where did they advance from, what ever happened to Slush-Head’s wife, does He-Man ever return to Eternia, what about those outlandish people forced to lie in eternal hibernation while focusing their mental energy on the shield around Primus, and finally what’s the chronicle unhurried the best Guardian of all time, Tuskador) but even unexcited the indicate offers closure. Finally, Skeletor gets revamped again by the ruin (that’s the third time in one season in case you lost count) . This time his goofy helmet gets destroyed and we must endure a completely uncovered bone-head for half of the plot, complete with repugnant wisps of murky hair flowing down his neck. Maybe this one was for all of the kids out there who were losing sleep wondering what Skeletor looked like under the hood all these years.

While the exhibit slipped a bit in its second half, the presentation is serene typical BCI which means more than any fan could ever ask for (in case you haven’t been following along) . This 6-disc status maintains the stellar artwork and attention to detail we sinful fans have arrive to examine. As always included here are two collectors art cards (this time from Gene Ha and Matt Haley) and a 6th disc loaded with though-provoking bonus material unavailable elsewhere. While the bonus disc documentary features never actually touch upon the Novel Adventures of He-Man itself, they do carry out the ongoing interviewing of key Filmation writers, creators, friends, and fans.

All in all, the Fresh Adventures may stray from the Filmation roots but thanks to an impeccable danger by our friends at BCI, this nearly forgotten series has been revived for future generations to relish. I must recommend this volume as a quintessential allotment of the He-Man universe’s release on DVD.

When The Hitchhiker came on in the 80′s i was totally zigzag on this tv prove!!!!! It’s wintry that it came out on two volumes on dvd so that procedure you can relive all those classic awe tales!!!!! What made it creepy was the music and the stories and it had a large cast to play the parts in the stories so go and procure them in your collection now!!!!!

Bleah. I never caught this benefit when it was on HBO, and I’m gay. It’s bad. I couldn’t gain through two whole episodes. They call these tales of fright. What’s bad is that this ever got set aside on DVD. Don’t bother picking this title up. It’s cheesy and not frightful at all. Maybe really slow at night serve in the 80′s. But probably not even then.

These nature films, if you could acquire them at all, were previously only on VHS. I had already seen two of the films on the spot on VHS, “The Vanishing Prairie” and “The Living Desert”, and I was amazed how these dilapidated films from the 50′s had such noble cinematography considering the times. Now on DVD, these films have been cleaned up even more, and the video is not hard on the eyesight at all. 30 years before the Discovery Channel, it is truly fabulous to glimpse what Disney was doing in the realm of nature films.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Walt Disney Legacy Collection – True Life Adventures, Vol. 2! Click Here

“Seal Island”, produced in 1949, is known as Disney’s first nature documentary and runs 26 minutes. It studies animal life on Seal Island, which is a miniature island in the Bering Sea. The life cycle of the seals is the dominant theme, of course, although the documentary talks about the other animal residents of the island too. Because it was Disney’s first attempt at a nature documentary, it is awkward at spots. It tends to come by very wearisome at one point, and then picks up the tempo with a bloody battle between feuding male seals fighting for dominance that tends to be a bit graphic.

“The Living Desert” won the Academy Award for Best Feature Documentary in 1953, and its theme is a day in the wildlife of the American desert southwest. On the funny side, the best scene involves a couple of square-dancing scorpions, and on the dramatic side the best scene is probably a fight between a tarantula and a wasp. The commentary is well done, but some people might regain it fair a bit too jokey at points. It runs 70 minutes.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Walt Disney Legacy Collection – True Life Adventures, Vol. 2! Click Here

“The Vanishing Prairie” also won the Academy Award for Best Feature Documentary in 1954 and runs 71 minutes. Again, the photography is beneficial, but the narration is depressing and the conclusions no longer correct. Thanks to ecology minded films such as this one, efforts were started to succor insure that the prairie and its wildlife don’t fade. Thus its overall message is best taken in a historical context. There are some immense shots of prairie dogs that will remind you quite a bit of Meerkat Manor. Other featured animals include bighorn sheep, the Pronghorn antelope, mountain lions, coyotes, and buffalo.

“Nature’s Strangest Creatures” (1959), is the shortest of the films at only 15 minutes in length. It focuses on the wildlife of Australia 35 years before the Crocodile Hunter made these creatures more familiar to us all. Animals shown besides the requisite kangaroo include the giant bat, flying squirrel, and the duck-billed platypus.

“Islands of the Sea” (1960), was nominated for an Academy Award for that year. This 28-minute film discusses and photographs the wildlife on the islands of Galapagos, Guadelupe, the Falklands, and Midway. Of course, they display the turtles of the Galapagos, and also the penguins of the Falklands. Although overall the film focuses more on birds, there is also quite a bit on the reptile inhabitants of these islands. One of the funniest segments include a penguin attempting to “bid” and an albatross attempting a clumsy landing in what had to be one of its less resplendent moments.

The extras include “Backstage with Roy Disney at Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Desert Insects”, which actually is more of a retrospective on Roy’s movie career than anything else. “Backstage with Roy Disney at Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Snakes” focuses on the Orlando Animal Kingdom theme park and its snakes. “Filmmakers’ Journal” is very provocative for those of us who wondered how the filmmakers accompished some of the shots they got in the making of the five featured films. This 40 tiny bonus allotment talks extensively with people who actually worked on the films and they direct you how clear shots were obtained and talk about various tricks that were employed. “Collectors’ Corner” is a short three dinky portion in which Disney artist and historian Stacia Martin shares some promotional items tied to the DVD’s films. “Trailers & Promos” is the aptly named part on the recent trailers and promos for the five featured films, both when they were shown on TV and in the theatres.

This is a truly huge collection of nature films. You’ll probably spy in each of them the basic Disney “formula” for such films – They generally blended very estimable photography and narration on the overall wildlife being spotlighted. Mixed with that will be numerous comic moments with animals doing what appear to humans as crazy stunts along with dramatic predator/prey moments and wildlife fight scenes that often demolish up in tragedy for one of the animals fervent. On top of this, each of the films is well scored, with the music matching the mood of the scene being shown. Highly recommended.

At least two of the films, Living Desert and Vanishing Prairie, are rotund length and were Academy Award winners. At the time(1950′s) nature photography was quite difficult with tremendous, heavy, stout cameras, long before the National Geographic channel or Animal Planet. So these films are literally the ground floor of nature photography. I am expecting a improbable residence, restoring the new color and sound. When I saw them in the 70′s the color had already metamorphed into green skies, for example. Disney has promised us a tubby restoration. Do you remember seeing the tarantula and the birth of a buffalo calf? Through it all we have the astonishing humor of Winston Hibler’s narration. I can’t wait!

The four star rating is not for the series but Viz’s release. The video quality is as qualified as could be expected (it is an extinct present, after all, and I have to admit it actually looks behind eighties instead of early eighties), and the sound is certain. The packaging has advantageous artwork and hard cases (I detest the cardboard cases outmoded in the Godfather space or the E.T. release) .

I have two complaints: one is that episode 24, the last episode in this DVD, is supposed to have Gilbert O’sullivan’s “Alone Again (Naturally) ” and “Accept Down (You’re a Poor Dog, Baby) ” as the opening and closing themes. They have decided to skip this, returning it to the opening and closing sequences that advance before and after (i.e. the recent opening and the closing “Cinema”) . This is likely because Viz didn’t want to pay the licensing fees (or perhaps they were feeble without Gilbert’s permission to initiate with) . In any case, I’ve seen them before, so I’m not too disappointed, and it was only for one episode anyway. Maybe they’ll include it as an extra in a later region.

Secondly, the extras are 1) an unnecessary relieve yarn (I don’t know anybody who would consume this one without buying the first one, so what’s the point? ) and 2) a brief preview of the next boxset. Both indicate scenes from the demonstrate, but only in english (no option for japanese or subtitles) .

When it comes down to it, though, I only care about getting the series, which is one of my favorites. Select this and the fresh manga editions in the tradional accurate to left Japanese style.

Thanks for taking the time to read my review. Almost everyone knows what this anime is about so I won’t go into details. I objective want to respond some previous questions about this series. Most of the people are not definite how well the dubbing was handled by Viz. Don’t effort I’ve seen 60 episodes and the dubbing has been good. Another query that was asked by the many fans of this anime was will there be more Maison Ikkoku dvds produced. The respond is yes and volumes 4 and 5 have already arrive out so construct certain to recall up the box sets 4 and 5. Another significant fact is that this series was first aired on 1986 and since then has been a gargantuan hit with the fans world wide. With that being said you cannot go unpleasant with this product so rob up your box plot today. Thanks

Naruto Shippuden is a minute different from the early Naruto years. But it is high octane adrenaline! The action and memoir line arc takes up to 30 episodes before Sai comes into the narrate. The only dissappointment I feel is in Viz Media, why are they bothering to release Shippuden 1 disc (4 episodes) at a time? They should go directly to box sets! And by box sets I mean, they should carry at least 20 episodes or more. Shipuden season 1 is like 50 or more episodes, each season is immense! Viz Media, why must you milk us of our hard earned money and give us so itsy-bitsy in return?! Anyone who buys this disc or the previous disc in this series, I suggest you own off watching them until you have disc 10 in hand, these episodes pick up you and never let you go, you will writhe in agony until the next release!

These episodes will regain to expose us how distinguished the other Konoha 11 have grown since Naruto has been away from his friends and teachers, as you behold Naruto reuniting with his friends and finding out what has been happening Gara finds himself locked in battle with one of the elusive Akatsuki who have been sent to the hidden sand village to assume him. AS soon as Naruto finds out he of course rushes to encourage his friend and fellow jinchuriki(A Person who has a sealed tailed demon in him/her) as he journeys to the sand village with Kakashi, Sakura, and Temari what is happening to Gara ignites his occupy enrage as he knows the Akatsuki only glimpse him and the other jinchuriki as nothing more than monster vessels to expend in their insidious arrangement. The series is unexcited very racy and follows the manga series almost perfectly there are of course a few minor differences but nothing to huge to difficulty about. I do hope that they’ll release uncut box sets like they did with Naruto but I guess will objective have to wait an eye. So for all fans rejoice again as the Shippuden episodes have finally arrived for us all to appreciate…
