I deem the first thing that fans of the H.R. Pufnstuf series might accumulate surprising is that there were only 17 episodes produced, and one of those is what amounts to a “clip” demonstrate. When the series first aired, it seemed to go on forever. That was in the days of one episode a Saturday, every Saturday. Somehow, kids didn’t quite score on that it was the same eps over and over.

But the note itself was blooming revolutionary for its time. A Dragon with a heart of gold, a witch with an gaze for gold and a kid with a golden flute in the middle.
But that’s typical of Sid and Marty Krofft, who provided a gentle touch, a bit of slapstick, some wild sets and costumes and a stellar star in the make of Jack Wild, unprejudiced off his Artful Dodger turn in the Best Relate Oscar winning “Oliver!” at the time.

If you’re a fan of the series, you will like what you gaze here. As advertised, every episode is presented (though one of them is in rather washed out shape in comparison to the rest for some reason) . But even more valuable are the special features you accept here.
It’s rare to collect a sit down interview with the Kroffts themselves, but you catch to hear them both affirm their stories about the days of their childhood careers, and what led them to do their collection of programs. THAT is worth the notice of the DVD, because you win to win out a lot about the psychology of these two guys through their candid comments: Sid, who was the Vaudeville star, and Marty, who copied his world eminent sibling doing his same act. The interaction between these two could be the most droll thing in this collection and MUST NOT BE MISSED!
They also trudge you a couple of episodes of an early program titled “Irving” about a circus lion and his adventures in and around the Spacious Top.
Billie Hayes, who played antagonist Witchiepoo, does a fantastic interview at a convention, with people walking by in the background of a hotel ballroom, and that in itself is laughable.
But the toughest thing for me to ogle was Jack Wild’s interview. It’s obvious that the guy has been through a very tough time in his life and every last bit of it shows quite clearly in his face. He nearly looks as old-fashioned as his witch counterpart! However, to his credit, he tranquil has the youth in his eyes and is level-headed quite expressive.
If I have any advice, I’d suggest you understanding all the special features before you seek any of the episodes. It sets them up a bit better and give you a better sense of the people alive to and the timing of everything. But it’s really a sizable package, valid for kids from the 1970s, or maybe even their kids!
Highly recommended.
How frosty is THIS!!! I have waited YEARS for this. I grew up watching the Sid & Marty Kroft tv note. Showing my age a bit eh? However there were two stand out shows from them. Land of the Lost (that box residence is coming this year from Rhino!) and H.R. Pufnstuf! To have these astounding treasures in a DVD dwelling is like a magic flute to my ears and candy for my eyes. This was an race for us when we were younger and it is improbable to be able to go attend to that rush now as a grown up. This is also a colossal gift to part with your young ones you might have now because there is not remarkable anymore on TV that really is offering kids a fantasy to race into without trying to sell them stuff. So who you call when things regain ruff? H.R. Pufnstuff!!!!!!!
