If you are a parent of a teenager, a teacher, or a youth minister, or anyone else who works with teens, somehow accept them to gape this. I found it downright chilling and I watched it again suitable before I wrote this review.

This documentary isn’t about bashing teens. It’s about exposing a very minute number of ample media corporate conglomerates (objective seeing who ownes who is curious) who work around the clock to choose the next “chilly” trend among teens. They ogle the teens who are on the cutting edge to choose what the next cold thing is and then they package whatever it is and mass market it to the general teen audience. Of course, once whatever-it-is goes mainstream, it isn’t frosty anymore.

They also contemplate the strictly average teen, not the elegant gifted or the overachievers, to choose how to arrive this population with their marketing. Teens then conform to what they’ve been sold. They occupy products with money often given to them by their parents. The media moguls pocket the money, and then try to figure out the next “chilly” thing, and the never ending cycle continues.

I could go on, but I can’t really do justice to what is my popular episode of Frontline. I’ve leant my copy to several friends and they’ve all been enlightened to things that they never suspected were happening. Truth is often stranger than fiction. This might have been sci-fi fifty years ago.

The steal home lesson to me is that being chilly sucks. It sucks your brain out of your head and your money out of your wallet. This is accurate particularly if you’re trying to remove coolness. It’s best to be who you are and let others resolve how frigid that is.

If you are a parent of teens, pull the TV cable out of the wall and end giving teens money. Build them come by it.

Finally, be definite to acquire the movie “Josie and the Pussycats” to observe the same subject dealt with in a fun and satirical blueprint.

This film exposes some of the marketing techniques ancient on young people.

I’m gay to read that another reviewer shows it to his students each year.

Another teacher who showed it to her class was less impressed with the response it received from some students who opinion it was dated. There are some more unique documentaries on this roar from the Media Education Foundation, but this Frontline presentation is a apt space to inaugurate.

I learned in the film The Corporation that some psychologists hired by the corporate world work to execute a high “nag factor,” that is an intense pressuring from kids on parents to seize particular items for them. The techniques are many, and are constantly extinct on adults as well. Another related field to marketing is public relations. PR’s founder, Edward Bernays, wrote a book called Propaganda, that was utilized by Joseph Goebbels during the rise of fascism. Bernays, a nephew of Sigmund Freud, boasted that “If we understand the mechanism and motives of the group mind, it is now possible to control and regiment the masses according to our will without their intelligent it.”

To counter all of this propaganda, I’d suggest the following resources:
