The movie is really apt, 4 stars anyway. The following comments pertain to the quality of the transfer to DVD. In that respect, let’s invent distinct we’re on the same page. On the spine of the case of this DVD is the WB logo, the designation “DVD Video”, and the number 11787. In the relieve description on the case, it is designated: “STANDARD VERSION: This film has been modified from is (sic) new version: It has been formatted to fit your mask.” In other words, it’s a pan-and-scan version, and indeed one that is so unpleasant that essential information during the movie is lopped off the visible viewing set. The image quality is grainy and disgusting, like a transfer from some stale VHS video tape that’s been laying around on a dusty shelf ever since the movie was made. The sound quality stinks: One must turn up the volume to reach maximum in order to hear the dialog, which even then is badly muffled at times. Whoever at Warner Brothers was responsible for this mess demonstrates their total contempt for the customer.

Like BLADE RUNNER before it, when FRANTIC came out in U.S theaters in 1988, it’s box-office performance was rather dissappointing. The reason for this can be attributed to the fact that FRANTIC (like BLADE RUNNNER) was not cranked out by the Hollywood cookie cutter machine, and therefore not a movie for American masses. Delving a bit deeper into this, there are aspects of the film’s feel, situation, performance and salvage that I’d like to touch on:

FEEL

Despite the fact that it’s made by Warner Bros., FRANTIC has a distinctive European production feel to it. Yes, it’s filmed in Paris, but the feel, creep and cinematography form one realize that Frantic is really a European film which has an American star at its helm. It’s not often that titanic stars, such as Harrison Ford, step out of the Hollywood production scene to invent a European-type feature. It’s no surprise, then, that FRANTIC was hugely successfull in Europe.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Frantic! Click Here

PLOT

The film has the spirit of Hitchcock throughout it. Even its premise: Harrison Ford’s(Dr. Richard Walker) wife mysteriously vanishes from his hotel upon arriving in Paris for a conference. It differes from other films with a similar area (such as THE VANISHING and BREAKDOWN), in that the audience is fair as at a loss as Walker is. We only know what he knows. We peek parts of the mystery as he methodically puts the peices together. This aspect is what really creates the film’s arresting suspense and makes one recount and empathise with Dr. Walker’s worry. In the afore mentioned movies, there is a bi-linear location where we witness what is going on from the kidnapper’s point of notion, which manufacture things all-too positive.

PERFORMANCE

Buy,Download, Or Stream Frantic! Click Here

For those critics that say that Harrison Ford can’t act, they obviously haven’t seen this movie. To me, this is his best perfmance of his famed career. Harrison Ford is required to be in every scene of the film, since he is our eyes and ears. This is not an easy job, even for the most seasoned of actors, but Ford pulls it off masterfully.

SCORE

Ennio Morricone’s gain for this film is very appropriate. He weaves in suspensfull strings throughout the film along with jazzy undertoans and meloncholy pieces brilliantly complementing the Ford’s performance and Polanski’s vision. The opening and closing titles are distinctively Morricone, mixing an orchestra strings theme with an electric bass and drum spot. Alas, the soundtrack CD has been out of print for years…..

FRANTIC is not a perfect film, but clearly, it has not been given the credit that it deserves. It is a film that should not go unnoticed by movie-goers that enjoy atmospheric, suspense-filled thrillers with first-class permormances.

Full House is one of the most loved family sitcoms in original history. The prove was a hit on ABC since its 1987 debut. This is the season in which Uncle Jessie and Becky find married.

Full House-The Complete Fourth Season includes 20 episodes from the shows fourth season. The shows fourth season aired on ABC during the 1990-1991 season. The season opens up with the episode “Greek Week.” Jessie’s Greek family come’s to town and they bring some exciting guys. Ashley and Mary Kate Olson fraction rare hide time together in this episode as one of the twins plays a distant cousin who looks honest like Michelle. They also bring to town a teenage boy named Silvio that DJ has a crush on and a voluptuous woman who plans to rekindle her relationship with Jessie–much to Becky’s panic. The episode concludes with awesome news–Becky and Jessie salvage engaged-again.

The fourth season of Stout House is easily as scrumptious as previous seasons. The two fragment episode “The Wedding” is classic. Whereas season 3 seemed noteworthy more driven by the storylines of the kids, season 4 saw the adult storylines expanding. Besides Becky and Jessie’s relationship intensifying, the three men settle to go into business together. Joey has to approach to terms with his father after his father comes to survey him compose in Las Vegas, and Jesse attends his high school reunion.

The kids have their heavenly piece of storylines also. Michelle has to deal with a school bully, DJ deals with the pressure to be thin, and Stefanie frets about having to wear glasses.

The fourth season is pivotal to the note and if you are a collector of the series on DVD you can’t miss out on Pudgy House the Complete Fourth Season. Chubby House The Complete 4th Season arrives on DVD August 15th.

The classic 1980′s-1990′s sitcom “Paunchy House” showed late improvement from Season 1 to Season 2, as well as from Season 2 to Season 3, but I possess that this 4th season is where the series was truly launched as the fun, lighthearted, and wholesome point to that it was. A lot of changes took region, but that same formula of family treasure and closeness remained to give “Beefy House” the footing it needed to remain successful.

Season 4 was filled with many gratified times and comical occasions, beginning with the hilarious series opener “Greek Week,” progressing with Joey’s Las Vegas gig to commence up for Wayne Newton, and of course, continuing with the long-awaited 1-hour episode that chronicled the graceful wedding of Jesse and Becky (but as Michelle would say, “everything went bananas” on that day!) There were also many sweet and often dramatic moments sprinkled throughout the season, mainly with the three Tanner kids. Now ages 4, 9, and 14 (approximately), the girls are all growing up and contributing more emotion to the storylines. Teenager DJ struggles with search for pressure and experiments with a break diet to shape up for an upcoming pool party, and a mother/daughter sleepover shows Stephanie the pangs of not having a mom in her life. Even limited pre-schooler Michelle learns a tough lesson in family separation after her beloved Uncle Jesse gets married and considers spellbinding out for grand. The three of them were always very cute, and now that they are getting older, the material given to them is becoming stronger and fitting to their talent.

The impressively quick-paced release of these “Paunchy House” DVD’s has been very delectable for long-time fans of the series (the first half of the series has already been released!), and with the sure success that the DVD transfer has had, I am positive we can discover forward to seeing Seasons 5-8 in the arrive future!

Cold is what you procure in “Freeze me,” a revenge myth directed by Ishii Takashi, writer of the base Japanese terror film “Unfavorable Expressionless Trap.” All revenge tales, from “I Spit on Your Grave” to “Extinguish Bill,” part a popular plot; Person is wronged, person wrongs aid. “Freeze me” takes this familiar chronicle and frames it in an uncomfortably realistic scenario of current Japan. The stigmatism of being raped can be so strong that the majority of occurrences go unreported, but are simply buried away as a uncouth secret. While this may seem unthinkable to many viewers it is a harsh truth.

The yarn unfolds in a fairly predictable method. It is a revenge film after all. However, there is no joy in Chihiro’s vengeance on her attackers. She is a destroyed character, wronged beyond the point of experiencing any relief or possessing any strength. Even dumb, her violators continue to haunt her, as she keeps their bodies in industrial freezers in her apartment, unsure of how to dispose of her evidence.

Ishii keeps the camera work tight, intimate and downhearted. We are brought closer into Chihiro’s world than we would want to experience. The viewer is trapped into the same tight plot. The colors are muted, with the icy blue tint of the frozen corpses being the most radiant thing in the film. The resplendent Inoue Harumi, who plays Chihiro, is nude for distinguished of the film, but her nakedness emphasizes her vulnerability rather than offering the viewer any pleasure.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Freeze Me! Click Here

One of the strangest and most unexpected elements of “Freeze Me” is seeing Takenaka Naoto, who is so likeable as Butterfly Joe in “Ping Pong” and The Dolphin Trainer in “Waterboys,” playing such a spoiled character as lead rapist Baba. It is trustworthy to behold his range as an actor.

The main weakness of this film is that it is a revenge film, and thus familiar enough to be predictable. It does not improve up the basic station stylistically in the procedure that “Slay Bill” does, not does it bend the boundaries of unpleasant violence such as “I Spit on Your Grave.” It does do a satisfactory job of presenting a generous genre flick. Definitely worth a viewing, but not something that will rock your world like “Audition.”

The modern importation of massive numbers of Asian panic titles has kept me busier than a one armed paper hanger. Takashi Miike’s voluminous catalogue of films alone–he often makes three or four a year–is usually enough to satiate my hunger for these movies, but when I tire of “Audition,” “Expressionless or Alive,” and “Visitor Q” I cast my eyes deeper into the Far East. I can always use time with the increasing numbers of Korean films, like “The Isle,” or even commence trying to retain tabs on the latest entries from Thailand. Then there are the Hong Kong Category III shockers, “The Untold Yarn” and “Ebola Syndrome” to name objective two. These latter films are usually so disgusting that I have to exhaust a few weeks washing my palate out with sub par American slasher knockoffs impartial to recover from the general nastiness. Recently I’ve been on an Asian kick again, so I guess it’s time to churn out a review or two. Takashi Ishii’s “Freeze Me” seems as pleasurable a area to initiate as any. It’s a movie from the Land of the Rising Sun that is more at home with a Charles Bronson “Death Wish” characterize than a slasher or gore flick.

Yep, what we’ve got here is a splendid conventional revenge film, but with greater depth than you would suspect. The film begins by introducing us to a magnificent young woman named Chihiro (Harumi Inoue), a gal with a fine job, a nice if quite minute apartment, and a caring boyfriend named Nogami (Shunsuke Matsuoka) . Our buxom heroine, unfortunately, harbors a horrific secret that is about to near serve and bite her in the you know what. Out of the blue, she happens to salvage a gawk of a decidedly unwelcome presence hanging around her mailbox in the apartment building, a guy she knew roughly five years before succor in her home town. Through flashbacks, rather cringe inducing flashbacks at that, we advance to learn exactly why Chihiro fled from her childhood digs and headed for the intellectual lights of Tokyo. The chap leering at her from her mailbox, along with a couple of pals, assaulted our young gal in a particularly wrong manner on a cool, snowy day. Moreover, these thugs videotaped the festivities and promptly sold copies through the mail. Now five years later the nightmare returns. All three men will eventually expose up at Chihiro’s apartment to relive mature memories.

The three thugs–Kojima (Shingo Tsurumi), Hirokawa (Kazuki Kitamura), and Baba (Naoto Takenaka) –simply don’t trouble about Chihiro calling the cops or seeking other assistance. They seem to seek information from that her alarm of being exposed to her boyfriend, whom she didn’t impart about the assault, as well as distress for her general reputation should the videotapes reemerge will sustain her still. They are good. Chihiro goes to huge lengths to preserve this secret, mainly by making clear her boyfriend will not arrive relieve to the apartment. And the secret is kept to the titanic detriment of her tormentors. You peer, they made the mistake of showing up at her lodgings one by one instead of as a group. This allows Chihiro to destroy each of them in grotesque ways (a knife in the shower or a hammer to the head while a tormentor plays a videogame work equally well, it turns out), but the murders prove a ample dilemma. What to do with the bodies? She can’t very well carry them through the streets of Tokyo. The solution involves ordering a stout freezer, placing a body into the contraption, and then using it as a section of furniture. A pickle with the electrical system ultimately leads to a rather malodorous defrosting exertion and a problematic choice for our heroine. “Freeze Me” is indeed a execrable bit of work.

Ishii’s report is a glorious portion despite the rather nauseating subject matter. The cinematography works wonders considering nearly all of the action takes set in an extremely microscopic apartment, the performances are first-rate for what is essentially an exploitation film, and actress Harumi Inoue is a accurate beauty who has diminutive objection to prancing about in her birthday suit. More vital, however, are the numerous layers to the film. Coldness plays a enormous role, both metaphorically and literally. The attack took state on an extremely cool winter day, and the memory of the assault has doubtless frozen itself into Chihiro’s memory. In some device, that horrific day placed a coldness in our heroine’s heart that can only regain expression in returning the favor to Hirokawa, Kojima, and Baba. It’s no mistake that she chose to achieve them in freezers; it’s merely her method of turning the attack assist on her tormentors in a poetic justice sort of design. Of course, I could be reading far more into the film than is actually there. Perhaps “Freeze Me” is nothing more than a mindless exploitation film reveling in images of graphic violence and excessive nakedness. Why not? There will always be an audience for such fare in films, especially when they approach from Asia. Filmmakers over in those parts have no qualms about showing things that would never pass the MPAA.

Supplements on the DVD are sparse, slight to a few trailers for other Asian features and a director’s biography. Oh well. The film is wacky enough to acquire your attention without a bunch of extras muddying up the waters. If you’re a fan of films like the “Death Wish” series, any of the Dirty Harry flicks, Meir Zarchi’s “I Spit on Your Grave,” or Abel Ferrara’s “Ms. 45,” you’ll want to hold up a copy of Takashi Ishii’s “Freeze Me.” It’s a bit deeper than the average American revenge film, at least in my concept, and the movie will serve bear out your collection of films in this notable cinematic subgenre.

For anyone who is a fan of ‘alien invasion’ movies, sci-fi in general, or honest good-old storytelling, the unusual ‘V’ mini-series is an absolute classic. The memoir begins with the arrival of 50 vast spacecraft over 50 major cities around the world; a civilization of human-like beings have arrive to ask for our abet in saving their dying planet. Over the film’s 3+ hours, our ‘visitors’ go from friend to foe, and humanity faces the prospect of enslavement by a facist regime, not unlike in World War II, this time on a world-wide scale. V was (and aloof is) new in its ability to weave together action and drama, along with some sci-fi elements, to do a ‘morality tale’ of sorts. I must admit, there were a couple of scenes that level-headed leave me choked up. The mini-series debuted on NBC in the Spring of 1983 and was followed by an superior sequel, ‘The Final Battle,’ a year later. Considering the date of release, it must be mentioned that the special effects are not up to fresh CGI standards – don’t advance here expecting ‘Independence Day’, but there are some scenes that are calm impressive, even by novel standards. This was done support in the day when you had to acquire all your effects from scratch and there were no computers to topple encourage on!

On to the DVD release of ‘V’…I must say this correct now: if you’re like me and you’ve seen V a hundred times already, you’re in for a shock when you glean a peer at this version. The colors are knowing and everything is so sharply in focus…it makes my passe VHS version seem like watching t.v. with plastic-wrap over the cover. It looks that edifying! The audio track has been completely remastered and the majority of the effects have been enhanced. Every laser blast, every explosion, the whoosh of a passing fighter…it’s all there, loud and obvious, and in Dolby Stereo. A 25 limited ‘behind the scenes’ documentary is included, and while it won’t convey you anything recent or repulsive about V, it is engrossing and adds to the value of the disc. Last, but definitely not least, is the commentary track by writer/director Kenneth Johnson. This WILL yelp you ‘new and shocking’ things and is definitely a major treat for those of us who are long-time fans.

I was about 9 years primitive in the Spring of ’83 when the novel V mini-series debuted on t.v. Needless to say, V left a major impact on me, as remarkable as the current ‘Star Wars’ movie did, if not more. If you are a fan of V, you MUST acquire a copy of this – it’s like seeing the expose again for the first time. On the other hand, if you’ve never seen V before, if you can deal with its early-80′s origins, it will no doubt proceed you like the rest of us.

As for myself, I have one thing to say: bring on ‘The Final Battle’ DVD, I’m ready!

P.S. Oh, and one more thing…why did Jane Badler’s name never become a household word? Aside from her being devastatingly glorious, not to mention her chilling portrayal of the dismal alien leader ‘Diana’, one would have expected to scrutinize more of this talented actress later on in her career. There is no justice in this world!

Like many, I was a Grand fan of both the “V” mini-series as a kid. Though even as a kid I found the dumbed-down weekly series to be sub-par, which is ironic considering I was the target demographic NBC was looking for. In rewatching the mini-series’ as an adult it’s apparent that “V: The Final Battle,” while agreeable, was also heinous to Ken Johnson’s current. It’s a shame he wasn’t allowed to guide the further installments, “V” would probably quiet be on the air today in some execute.

I wanted to determined up some of the confusion I’m seeing in these postings. First of all there is no missing footage, the mini-series is not lop in half. This DVD is exactly what it is billed as, “V – The Novel Mini-Series.” The unusual “V” was two parts which ran over two nights in 1983. It didn’t have an ending, it wasn’t really bellow to in order to articulate its allegorical story. The second mini-series, “V : The Final Battle” was three parts and aired over a year later. Both mini-series’ were syndicated to UHF stations in the unhurried eighties. Those stations usually ran all five parts over a week, though heavily edited. That might be what’s confusing some. Considering this DVD has sold about four times better than Warner Bros. was expecting, I’d say it’s a distinct bet “The Final Battle” will be released on DVD before too long.

As to the Gag Reel, sadly it’s not on the disc. It was supposed to be but unfortunately, Warner Bros. was unable to definite it for release. Too many of the actors wanted to be paid an additional fee for its inclusion on the disc. … objective never updated the information. Hope that helps!

I do not prefer another film whose opening and closing scenes are more effective than those in this shining portrayal of the 918th Bombardment group based in England which flew almost daily missions to Germany during World War II. The character of General Frank Savage (Gregory Peck) is reputedly based on Brigadier General Frank A. Armstrong, Jr. Sy Bartlett wrote the book and then the screenplay. Brilliantly directed by Henry King, we are introduced to a combination of combat fatigue and self-pity which results in the replacement of Colonel Keith Davenport (Gary Merrill) by his friend Savage who is told by his commanding officer, General Pritchard (Millard Mitchell), to shape up the 918th while avoiding Davenport’s problem: Becoming overly interested emotionally in decisions to send B-17 crews on exceptionally unsafe missions, day after day after day. Savage immediately establishes his authority and almost immediately loses whatever goodwill he may have had. He applies and then maintains constant pressure on the crews to improve their performance in all areas of flight operations. Underachievers are reassigned to one B-17 renamed “The Leper Colony.” Morale deteriorates to such a point that those at headquarters become concerned. A formal investigation of the region is conducted. This is a essential moment for Savage. If he has “lost” his men, he cannot continue. In fact, he expects to be relieved and begins to pack his personal items. However, for reasons best revealed in the film, Savage remains in roar. And then….

It would be a disservice to those who have not as yet seen this film to say any more about the place. Suffice to say that intelligent direction, spacious acting by everyone keen (notably by Dean Jagger who received an Academy Award for best actor in a supporting role), gracious cinematography (Leon Shamroy), and haunting music (Alfred Newman) are seamlessly integrated in this analysis of effective leadership (especially decision-making) under wartime conditions. The film begins when Harry Stovall (Jagger) makes an especially considerable remove in an antique store and then proceeds to what has by then become an abandoned air scandalous. As we launch to hear the bombers’ propellers grunt as the engines scream to life, we are transported succor in time. Later, as the film ends, civilian Stovall climbs benefit on his rented bike and departs what is again an abandoned air execrable. Blooming images throughout both sequences.

Peck included this among his current films, while adding that he was especially proud of his performance as Frank Savage. When first released more than 50 years ago, it did not receive the recognition (remarkable less the appreciation) it so obviously deserves. Whenever CEOs and other senior-level executives ask me to suggest war films which offer indispensable lessons about leadership and management, Twelve O’Clock High is first on the list, joined by (in alphabetical order) Negate Decision, The Dirty Dozen, The Enemy Below, Fort Apache, The Hunt for Red October, Paths of Glory, Pork Slit Hill, The Red Badge of Courage, They Were Expendable, and Zulu.

If there is one war record to support on your shelf besides “Saving Private Ryan,” this is it.

It starts with a lawyer visiting England as a tourist years after war’s destroy. He discovers a cheap, ceramic antique which the store owner tells him is of diminutive value. “Value? ” replies the lawyer. “Wrap it very carefully” he adds. So begins his mental saunter attend in time to the English airstrip where he served as adjutant of the 918th (nine, eighteenth) Bomb Group.

This “hard luck” group is taken over by a brigadier general from a colonel who has “over-identified” with his men, thus putting them before his missions. The general, Frank Savage, must restore group discipline and performance before the group disintegrates as an effective fighting unit.

General Savage puts mission before men and turns the disgruntled men who disapprove him into a cohesive unit. They turn into a group that will do anything to sustain from being left slack, or letting down their novel leader. (Each announcement of a mission for the following day is characterized by the operations officer going to the mantel over the fireplace, in the Officers’ Club, and turning the head of a ceramic pirate face outward.)

But the tough general will not fabricate the same mistake that the last group commander makes. He will always hold the mission first, and will not over-identify with his men. He will not let the loss of his men affect him.

Or, will he?

This dismal & white account is exceptional and superbly acted. It shows the mental tug-of-war a leader must get in the decisions that will cost the lives of men he has advance to care for and respect. It depicts how the ugliness of war brings out the best in ourselves, and creates fraternal bonds that last a lifetime.

This is not a gory record, but it is one that will leave you breathless. It may sadden you, but it will not disappoint you. It does not ruin with everyone living, or delighted.

War never does.

P.S. The “whole nine yards” refers to the length of ammunition in a box that was attached to each machine gun in the bomber. When the linked ammunition was stretched to its bulky length, it measured nine yards.

This is exactly the same announce as the standard DVD station The Mel Brooks Collection (Blazing Saddles / Young Frankenstein / Mute Movie / Robin Hood: Men in Tights / To Be or Not to Be / History of the World, Fraction 1 / The Twelve Chairs / High Panic) except that Spaceballs is in this Blu residence and not in the Standard DVD status.

The discs are housed in a book structure with each disc going bare into a slot on a page – kind of like last year’s Borzage Murnau status? With all of the scratched discs? In other words, this looks like another packaging nightmare from the folks at Fox/MGM who seem to retain doing this to their prestige sets to the mammoth chagrin of consumers.

In summary, the suppose looks spacious here, and the brand is more than reasonable, but the packaging I’ve seen does apprehension me at this point. The scary packaging is the only reason I’m subtracting one star at this point.

Where the first season covered Tony’s relationship with his mother and that relationship causing him to examine a therapist; the second season went more along the lines of him as a brother; the third season was based on Tony and Carmela as parents and of course, this fourth season was highly focused on their marriage, all coming to an amazing head in the final episode.

I’ve heard several people say that the third and fourth seasons weren’t as strong and as “biting” as the first two seasons, I couldn’t disagree more. This fourth season is an extremely intense season and is impartial as dramatically compelling and intelligent as the previous three. Very few dramatic series can even compare to The Sopranos where it entertains on all levels, from inspiring drama to boring pan funny moments.

Combining the continued elements of astonishing writing, righteous direction and exceptional acting all manufacture this fourth season another resounding success in the Sopranos series and a long wait until March of 2004 for the fifth season to kicks in.

While the death count has steadily decreased in subsequent seasons, The Sopranos is not going soft, but rather evolving. In the first season, everything was attach together. In number two, an emphasis was placed on Tony’s business: busting out, poker games, scams, power struggles, traders, etc. In season 3, the series showed it is not prone to repetition. Instead of Ralph becoming another Richie, his ability to earn money kept him alive.

Now the fourth and level-headed not the last season. Seemingly every episode ended with an melancholy shot of Tony and Carmela alone together, but unexcited apart: In bed with Carmela facing away, in the kitchen with Tony leaning on the couch, in the bathroom with Carmela in the tub. And after all this, Tony bought “Whitecaps”, his method of saying that he wanted to maintain his family together forever. But Carmela saw it as honest “a bigger version of a diamond ring.” As Dean Martin sings at the waste of the finale, “It’s because, my girl’s upright here.”

Then the demise of Ralph, foreshadowed when Jonny Sack comments “I should have let Tony reduce your head off last year.” Ralph was kept around only because of money and when he hands Tony an envelope and says “At least I’m friendly for something,” Tony can’t serve but agree. And when Ralph is being `silenced’ by Tony in `Whoever Did This’, Tony comments “She was a pretty creature, what did she ever do to you? ” It becomes hazy whether he is referring to Pie-O-My or Tracy when he sees her describe at the Bing. The “thousand incidents with that guy” finally regain up to Ralph.

By the waste of the season, Tony has a business quandary that will likely be settled somehow in season 5. Tony has conspired with Carmine to demolish Jonny Sack, and negotiated with Jonny to raze Carmine. It is unclear by season’s slay exactly who knows what and who is being place up.

The biggest gripes from viewers seemed to be the oddness of the Carmela / Furio and Janice / Bacala storylines. I consider more in depth viewing will relieve people to understand the subtleness of season 4. And mind you a lot of season 4 storylines will likely carry over into 5. The Sopranos is ongoing, and doesn’t play by the national network `close all storylines in the finale and leave one cliffhanger’ rule.

My biggest beef was HBO’s ruining the finale with posting online that Uncle Junior’s would acquire a mistrial and showing in the trailer a unlit SUV being shot into. Of course when it aired and a dim SUV pulled up, any element of shock was completely ruined.

Season 4 is very deep and fascinating, and has taken me dozens of viewings to understand underlying themes, and will seize many more to steal them all and get all the jokes (like Tony feeling like the ‘Reverend Rodney King Jr.’) Hopefully the DVD and its audio commentary will encourage. Like what was Tony’s `Italian Immigrant’ dream bellow to mean?

Death Note 3: L, Change the World is available for streaming or downloading.

L: CHANGE THE WORLD is the spin-off of the highly successful DEATH Notice and DEATH NOTE: The Last Name. (Marketers would call it Death Imprint 3) The two films based on the Japanese silly book (also adapted into an anime series) were box-office hits all over Asia, so obviously, Japanese filmmakers, taking a page from Hollywood’s book intends to capitalize on its fame. However, the film seems more of an ode to the series and is aimed generally to diehard fans. Those queer with the two live action films may be alienated so I suggest you seek those first before viewing this film.

The story occurs in the final 23 days L (Kenichi Matsuyama) has left in the world. A killer virus had killed the occupants of a exiguous village in Thailand. A feeble colleague named “F” discovers the secrets of the virus and sends a young boy somehow immune to the fatal disease to L’s doorstep. A few days later, 12-year aged Maki ( Mayuko Fukuda) also shows up with a different strain of the virus, described as a combination of Ebola and Influenza. Apparently, her father Nikaido (Shingo Tsurumi) had created the virus and a subversive group called “Blue Ship” is after it. Leader Dr. Kujo (Youki Kudoh) intends to spend it to change the world by ridding it of all the useless people who inhabit it–useless people are those who abuse our natural resources; so you can guess exactly impartial how many people they intend to eliminate.

The film cleverly takes area during the last 23 days of L’s existence. Changing the world by killing “useless” people? The first two films focused on the scum of the Earth, and the theme may be somewhat similar to the “Death Designate” franchise in its hold diagram. While “Death Sign” dealt with the supernatural and mystical world of “Death Gods”, this time around, the “death god” is man-made. “L: Change the World” isn’t really a unpleasant film but the absence of a proper effective villain such as Light Yagami, the film fails to sign. You may say that the villains in this film are gorgeous routine and the direction by Hideo Nakata while very competent, has so puny to work with. “Death Price 1 and 2″ were tubby of cerebral thrills and they kept me in the edge of my seat. The mind games between Light and L were the two films’ showstopper, and without an effective manga to aid this film up, the antagonists were left unexplored and their goals a shrimp too predictable.

L is the same sugar-loving genius, punk rock refugee with abominable posture; quirky and pudgy of eccentric charisma. All these seem a exiguous wasted when the genius detective is site against a rather very underwhelming antagonist. Sadly, his displays of outsmarting and staying one step ahead of Dr. Kujo and Matoba neither immerses or impressed me. The main reason why the two Death Heed films were so successful is because they were beefy of surprises and at times quite difficult to predict what may happen next. Every trustworthy hero needs a favorable villain or his valid opposite. The film’s simple exposition makes the film a lot less thrilling and suspenseful but it does eliminate the complexities of the wordy dialogue that some viewers saw that it hampered “Death Tag” a itsy-bitsy. (not for me though)

Kenichi Matsuyama’s portrayal of L is endearing and charming, and the character does win a lot of character development in situation of displays of his super-intellect and cunning brain. The Death Sign series focused more on mind games and a somewhat convoluted plotline, this time around, the film focuses more on L’s personality. He develops a warm connection with the young boy (later named “Come”) who is also a mathematical genius. You peek more as to how L spends his last days, and it was quite engaging to examine him reject the temptation of the “notebook of death” by burning it. His involvement and compassion for Maki is quite satisfying as he tries his best to comfort her and shows that such an eccentric individual is superb of emotion. L’s “Crepe and Ice Cream mobile” do a smile on my face as I am positive fans will glean this very funny and cute (? ) . L also tries his hand at being an action hero but all we really survey him do is rush, climb and straighten his help.

L isn’t as compelling or spellbinding a figure without a mystical status with surprising twists or a nemesis such as Light Yagami; you may say they are two sides of the same coin. A hero is only made by the villain he faces? If the producers manage to form a formidable villain good of L’s supposed dazzling intelligence, a fresh franchise may work. The film unbiased isn’t as intense as its two predecessors but at least I found it fun to peruse. The film is a small slower-paced than I expected and suspense is only found on occasion and when they are, it may come by a bit redundant. The film unprejudiced doesn’t believe the darkness inherent in the “Death Label” live action films, but for die-hard fans of the series, this film is definitely composed worth a gawk. Others may feel itsy-bitsy lost and maybe a minute bored without knowledge of this character. This film wasn’t on par with “Death Impress” but at least it wasn’t as unpleasant as I feared.

Recommended timidly to fans of Death Imprint and a pleasant rental for everyone else [3 Stars]

Note: Death Trace and Death Note: the Last Name both reach highly recommended.

I knew this movie was a “roam off”…I knew this movie would not be about Light or the Death Heed (even though both are mentioned a few times…so with that said, I really enjoyed this movie. I loved seeing a more “personal” side of L. Its a piece of his character that HAD to be there, but was never shown in the Death Notice films. I recommend this movie to anyone that really enjoyed the Death Notice movies as distinguished as I did, objective don’t look L Change The World with any expectations, and allow yourselves to like it for what it is.

Really every episode from this series can be considered a fan current but more noticable in this collection is the four fraction Black Pheonix Saga as well as Weapon X, Lies and Videotape, Nightcrawler and Obsession.

The audio & video quality we can examine will be the same as that of the first two volumes. Episodes tended to be in the same quality they aired with minor compression issues that go unnoticed by most and didn’t impede on my personal viewing enjoyment. Also the further we go into the series we should examine a unimaginative staunch improvement on the real animation quality.

There are regrettably no special features on these volumes but given the fact we’re dealing with Disney that was to be expected. TELEVISION WAS BETTER IN THE NINETIES. Thanks for your time.

* Rather than clutter up the review page I have included a list of episode summaries in my comments fragment for those involved.

I am a child of the ’90′s, growing up in a time when television was in something of a golden age — the action was kicking harder, the humor was getting funnier but was serene novel and natty, and landmark shows such as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” were getting their starts. Among this age, FOX network created FOXkids!, a viewing block that aired in the afternoons after school let out and also on Saturday mornings. Within this time, “X-Men: The Spellbinding Series” came into being.

Dealing with gigantic social issues such as prejudice and pleasurable vs. unfriendly, “X-Men”, like the comics the note was based on, wrapped these issues in fun packaging with “mutants” and “trim powers.” Going on to be one of the most successful cartoons in FOX’s history, “X-Men” ran for a phenomenal five seasons. This is the first time that these beloved episodes are available in high-quality DVD format.

Volume Three of this collection picks up where Volume Two left off — the Phoenix Saga, one of the greatest of all laughable book anecdote arcs. Jean Grey joined with the cosmic entity known as the Phoenix Force and sacrificed her life to set the universe. Now, the Phoenix has been driven aroused by Jean’s humanity and her telepathic powers, helped by the mental manipulations of the nefarious Inner Circle club, beginning the begin of the fable Murky Phoenix Saga.

Follow the X-Men as they fight for Jean Grey’s soul, as Apocalypse rises and the battle not only horrible but prejudice and social adversity time and time again. Featuring everyone’s common laughable characters (from Nightcrawler to Iceman to Archangel, to Cable and Apocalypse and Magneto), Volume Three will continue to delight fans of both amusing and note.

Although there are regrettably no special features, these DVD collections — with a effect imprint of $15 a section — are well worth collecting as a radiant example of a time when television was more than honest reality shows and sexual humor; a time when the media was relevant.

5 out of 5 stars.
