For those who haven’t had the pleasure of seeing this top-rated series on TV, it’s about the lives of two brothers, one of the brother’s son, and the many people, especially women, who surround them. When his wimpy younger brother Alan Harper (Jon Crier) becomes separated from his wife and moves out of their house, he has to proceed in with Charlie, his older brother (played by Charlie Sheen) . Alan shares custody of his son Jake (Angus T. Jones), who was 10 when the series began and who stays with them part-time. The “half a man” in the title of this sitcom is in reference to the fact that Jake isn’t an adult yet.

Charlie Harper is a successful bachelor with a house on Malibu Beach, a Mercedes in the garage and an easy method with women. His easygoing, often hedonistic single lifestyle is interrupted when his tightly-wound brother, Alan (a chiropractor), and Alan’s son, Jake, travel in with him. Alan’s hung-up ex-wife Judith (Marin Hinkle) frequently makes matters worse, as does the brothers’ narcissistic mother, Evelyn (Holland Taylor), whose wide-ranging sex life is a recurring gag throughout the series. The brothers’ housekeeper Berta (Conchata Ferrell) is unapologetically sarcastic, and often has the best one-liners, trading insults with Charlie referring to Alan as “Zippy.” Their household can’t function without her.

There are a number of other series regulars, but in this viewer’s thought, Charlie’s wacky neighbor and female stalker Rose (Melanie Lynskey) is one of the best. She has a habit of popping over Charlie’s deck railing and sometimes enter his house at inopportune moments. It’s alluded that she had a one night stand with Charlie shortly before the prove started, which she believed to be more famous than he did. Rose’s father Harvey is played by Martin Sheen, and in one episode he asks Charlie of his intentions with his daughter. At one point Harvey meets Charlie and Alan’s mother and has an affair with her, and popping in and stalking her honest like his daughter does with Charlie.

It should be said that this series and its actors have won a number of Emmy Awards and nominations. Those who are familiar with it can well understand why. This series is well worth it, and if you do like it, there are other seasons available:

This is a terrific series. My husband and I started watching it behind in the seasons. Now we are catching up. Unsuitable behavior? You betcha! We have laughed ourselves amusing through every vicarious second of it. We unprejudiced bought the first dvd series of this note and can’t wait to discover it from the initiate. I have been watching series 4 in reruns on tv. I don’t know if it is season 4 but my celebrated episode is when Charlie becomes the hapless victim and sex slave of a witch’s coven. He is saved by his mother who strikes panic into the coven ending the explain perfectly dressed as the Dismal Witch of the West. This is not a indicate for kids, but adults, especially those with and ex or two, or crazy relatives should treasure it.

In this, the best of his move works (explore also Around the World in 80 Days and Plump Circle), Palin travels along the 30 degree longitude line, which takes him to many rarely-travelled places, including Chernobyl and parts of Africa where there simply are no roads to disappear.

Throughout, Palin is witty and insightful, and one wishes they were with him (except for the scene with the maggots) . While proceed writing might seem tiring,, Palin makes it bewitching, and lively. I devoured all his go books within a very short period of time, and was left wanting more.

After the success of Around the World in Eighty Days, Michael Palin embarked on a highly successful career as an adventure tourist. Each of his journeys has a hook: circumnavigating the Pacific Rim, going across the Sahara Desert, or in this case making the lumber from the north pole to the south pole following as best as possible longitude 30 degrees.

Along the plot, from snow to savannah, from Norway to Nairobi, the charm of Palin’s travels comes from the unassuming plot he interacts with the people he meets on route. His personality carries the relatively unstructured travalog along on a sea of well-meaning interest and curiosity. He tells us when he’s tired, anxious, and bored. We are touched by the excellent friendships he makes, however fleetingly, and the partings are often touching. In Pole to Pole the meat of the drag is Africa and we proceed from relatively cosmopolitan Egypt to what in politically unsuitable days was referred to as Darkest Africa. Even in 1991 witchdoctors outnumbered the western kind, and random violence was never far from idea. Indeed, at one point Palin stays with a European estate owner in Zambia and his family and after the visit is concluded we learn from the voice-over that they were slaughtered six months later.

I spent a few formative years in southern Africa and it was grisly to me to behold how puny had changed since last I saw it. If anything, most of the change was for the worse: the weak trains and buses simply have grown older, the disorder greater. Only in South Africa did time seem to have moved on. For the casual viewer the sheer range of experience in Africa should be though-provoking, even though we score the merest search for. How can one select a continent in unprejudiced a few minutes of video? Like many people, I suspect, my celebrated moments were of Palin sitting on top of the stupid jabber creaking its intention through Sudan, talking with those who can’t afford to move any other procedure, and seeming perfectly at home. Somehow Palin makes us forget how unlikely it all is: a well-paid BBC personality squatting among the illiterate and impoverished, interacting with them as though it were the most natural thing in the world. Perhaps no other TV presenter could really pull it off convincingly.

In the raze the “hook” seems a dinky forced: Palin flies in to the north pole and he flies in to the south pole. It’s not really grand of an memoir hurry but it was more perilous than it might seem: when he made the perambulate to the South Pole there was inadequate navigation and infrastructure and it would have been all too easy for him to have perished due to half-baked preparation and execution on the piece of those tasked with ferrying him around. Fortunately all survived and went on to perform several other telejourneys to various parts of the world; journeys which are now slowly being remastered onto DVD and released by the BBC. If you don’t have the chance to go distinguished beyond the usual tourist haunts, by all means take up a copy of Palin’s travels and experience the sights, sounds, and people you will otherwise never know of.

I conventional to have this movie, and I seriously regret the fact that my family taped over it. This is a fun film based on one of the all-time spacious 80′s cartoon series.

Three witches unlease the Smooze on Dream Valley in order to gain it “shadowy, dank, and unimaginative.” The ponies bring Meghan, Danny, and Molly and their Rainbow locket to Ponyland to assign them, but the Smooze manages to suck up the Rainbow of Light before a spell mishap puts it to sleep. The humans, a few ponies, and one audacious bushwoolie search for attend before the witches can awaken the Smooze and completely flood Ponyland. Meanwhile, Baby Hasty and Spike urge away and meet the Grundles before they reunite with everyone in Flutter Valley, home of the magic ponies that can defeat the Smooze. Lots of singing and dapper adventures buy position along the blueprint.

It’s really a fun family movie, and there are lots of lessons that are learned along the design about teamwork, family, and keeping hope alive. The songs are mammoth, particularly “Nothing Can Finish the Smooze,” if only for the back-up singing the Smooze heads do. Consume this movie, you won’t regret it.

I taped this movie from the Disney Channel, but my sister taped over my copy of it. This isn’t the greatest MLP cartoon in the bunch (my favorites are “Midnight Castle” and “Hasten from Catrina”), but this one aloof had it’s moments.

The Witches from the Volcano of Gloom design the Smooze to raze the Diminutive Ponies and their spring festival, so they have to go acquire the Rainbow of Light, but it ends up buried in the Smooze, and they have to go rep the Flutter Ponies. Also, some of the other ponies search for Baby Lickety Split who has hasten away, with Spike the Dragon.

PROS:

The music and the songs are really kindly, I consider. One of the best song numbers is “I’ll Do the Dirty Work” sung by Reeka and Draggle. Every time I peep this routine, I crack up, along with “Nothing Can Finish the Smooze” with the Smooze doing a minute 1950′s doo wop riff while the witches are singing. Another immense song was “There’s Always Another Rainbow.” Not comic like the other two I mentioned, but peaceful a titanic song.

The Moochick and his rabbit cracked me up. I treasure Tony Randall’s direct of the Moochick better than whoever did him in the MLP TV series. It impartial seems funnier to me.

Any scene with the Grundles, especially when the Grundle King mentions Grundleland.

Keep your eyes inaugurate during any scene with Reeka and Draggle. You’ll procure petite surprises along the diagram.

CONS (reasons why I give this a 4 rather than a 5) :

A lot of the scene changes were a bit choppy and seemed to advance so speedy.

The paint job on this seemed a bit washed out.

Baby Lickety Split was a brat, and I didn’t like Gusty’s personality all that powerful, even BEFORE she got Smoozed.

I didn’t particularly care for Buttons’s, Lofty’s, Baby Lickety Split’s, or Sundance’s voices. Having seen the MLP TV series before this movie, I consider that explains it.

The waste of the “I’ll Go it Alone” song, because the animation was a petite irregular there.

In some scenes, there are ponies that aren’t supposed to be there, and they mysteriously recede later. Something comman in the TV series, too.

But other than the cons, this is a stout movie. It’s really very cute! You will not regret it if you assume it.

The premise seems promising at first. A group of college students is selected to act out an internet play at the home of killer Michael Myers…This Michael Myers is the deadly character who apprehensive previous HALLOWEEN movies and is presumed stupid by the beginning of this one. The premise is not unpleasant. And there comes a time in the movie when, hardly surprisingly, the notorius villian turns out to be alive after all. When the students scrutinize that Myers is detached alive and not only kicking but mild wreaking deadly dismay in the house where he grew up, things retract up a dinky. From there through the decently intelligent climax, the movie has the makings of a not-so-bad thriller. But the dilemma is in the middle, between the set-up and the climax. There it wallows in typical teen-movie cliches — virile wisecracking males, and females who resist them in equally cliched wisecracking manner…the only memorable thing about the travel is was fair humdrum.

I’m a broad Michael Myers fan from device attend when, and I have to admit I was rather disappointed with this eighth entry in the hallowed Halloween series. The whole conception of having six young people expend a night in Michael Myers’ worn house on Halloween night is vivid albeit not quite modern, but even this “reality” aspect of the film could have been improved upon. Then you have a number of status elements that exist for no apparent reason whatsoever, as the issues these raised initially are left blowing in the wind. Worst of all is the beginning of the film, as it did great to kill whatever genuine might follow in its wake once the filmmakers got to the unique and refreshing presentation of everyone’s popular masked killer doing his thing. It is hard to say what I mean without giving famous position elements away, so all I will say is that the opening scenes in this movie insult the intelligence of Halloween’s core audience and then expeditiously recede to spit upon and kick the very essence of what Halloween customary to be about. I contemplate the opening climax is borne of a very poor decision, and the scene itself is almost laughably pathetic. I daresay many steady Halloween fans will part my dissatisfaction in this regard.

Once we finally salvage to the live Internet broadcast of the six young people inside Michael Myers’ dilapidated house, the movie succeeds fairly well. The webcam aspect of the cinematography gives this film a special gaze and feel, and the sudden appearances of Michael retract on added effectiveness. There is one particularly well-behaved moment wherein the sudden appearance of the white screen from out of the shadows has a vintage Frankenstein feel to it. The killings are nothing special, and this Michael Myers really doesn’t carry himself well or have an inkling of the presence he had in earlier movies, but at least the man is aloof taking care of business. The characters in this film are a predicament, though. Most of them are nothing more than characters attach there to be killed. I never got any sense of what makes any of them tick. Michael’s knife can reduce through anything, but this film never manages to even penetrate the surface of any major character. Bianca Kajlich turns in a gorgeous well-behaved performance as Sara Moyer, and I notion Busta Rhymes was enormous and certainly provocative as Freddie Harris, the man tedious the web broadcast. The other cast members aren’t poor actors and actresses; they fair had exiguous to work with from the script. Sara’s character seemed to have some type of special sensitivity or psychic link of sorts to Michael early on, but that subplot goes nowhere. Then there is Sara’s Internet friend Decker. The movie did need some outside person viewing the Internet broadcast and reacting to what he sees catch situation in the house, but Decker ends up becoming one of the most needless characters of all time.

On a more clear trace, the DVD is loaded with extra goodies. Besides the obligatory filmmaker commentary, you bag several deleted scenes and three alternate endings (all of them as unimpressive as the steady ending), looks late the scenes with Jamie Lee Curtis and the production designer, and a featurette on the head cam passe by the six young people in the house. Best of all, you can belief the webcam footage on its occupy with or without commentary. This forty or so minutes of material, which includes a few moments not included in the film, actually plays better than the movie itself. If the filmmakers would have gone even farther in the webcam direction, I assume this movie could have been more delightful, although nothing could heal the wounds inflicted on Halloween loyalists in the opening moments of the film.

Russ Meyer wrote, directed, produced and edited this film, so it includes all of his strengths and weaknesses. All of the women have very titanic breasts, but the sex scenes are fleeting and not very erotic. The dialogue is corny, and all of the characters are caricatures. Most disturbing of all, the violence is not only excessive and over the top, it comprises most of the movie.

Shari Eubank is aesthetic as the demanding SuperAngel, who rises from the ashes of her fiery demise to become SuperVixen, the elegant gal with a heart of gold. Charles Pitts is too bland to be convincing as Clint Ramsey, the stud every super-stacked woman is dying to have sex with. Charles Napier is titanic as he chews cigars and chews scenery, playing the macho officer Harry Sledge. Charles went on to appear in many mainstream movies, including “The Blues Brothers” and “Rambo.” Christy Hartburg, who had a cameo as SuperLorna and is featured on the conceal of the DVD, never appeared in another movie! “Supervixens” has not primitive very well, and is more consuming as a curiosity than as a cult classic.

After the brutal execute of his promiscuous wife, Clint (Charles Pitts) is forced to sail a diminutive town… Harry (Charles Napier), a noxious look-alike who committed the killing, had itsy-bitsy anguish to build the blame for the slay on Clint…

Clint falls into a number of adventures, getting caught in the act with the mail-order wife of a farmer, having a brief affair with a chesty unlit still girl, and finally coming across a diner/gas spot accelerate by a lonely but pleasing woman who turns out to be a copy of his feeble wife… Clint stays on at the diner to back out the woman, and falls in savor… The assassin, however, passes through, discovers Clint, kidnaps his recent girlfriend, and tries to extinguish them both…

The women in “Supervixens” are buxom, elegant, and very shimmering, whereas the men are generally sex-crazed, vicious, and uncoordinated… Meyer usually bombards his audience with erotic images–big breasts, strong desire women, and simulated lovemaking–but here he gets carried away with several sadistic scenes that are true turn-offs…

This is almost like a documentary in telling the tale of the CIA taking a Russian defector to safety succor in the 60s. It gives a satisfactory background on what the watch game was like then and an in depth gape at the workings of the CIA at the time. This is not nail-biting action, but a superb overall glance at the recognize business in a more gleaming spy. I recommend it to those that relish peruse novels the most and I assume that even those that appreciate the James Bond action movies may net it captivating. Ample performances by Yul Brynner and Henry Fonda.

Better than average Frigid War “Eye vs. Explore” thriller….capable cast and fable line…….Caution…distinguished of the background conversations are in foreign languages…French, Russian, etc….there are subtitles but don’t inquire all the dialog to be in English….otherwise it’s a obliging flick..!!

What a cute DVD! my children admire the music, the “playing in the snow” scenes, counting ornaments and toy deliver cars, leaving cookies for Santa, etc, and they pick up a thrill out of watching for the “sneak peeks” of Santa throughout the program. It says “baby”, but my toddler AND my preschooler like it. We’ve already watched it dozens of times!

Another mammoth choice with a Christmas twist to the though-provoking series from Brainy Baby. My 14 month stale loves this one as remarkable as the others.

It’s aloof a titanic collection to have. “The Odyssey” itself makes it worthwhile. And seeing Jan Clayton, Tom Rettig, June Lockhart and Jon Provost together on stage is one of the greatest TV moments!

I had high hopes for this DVD collection and seeing it was created and released by two well known companies (Classic Media & Sony) it should have been better. This collection contains several “Lassie shows” starting with “Jeff’s Collie” in 1954 all the plot up to the “Holden Ranch” episodes in 1974.

Classic Media & Sony apparently had the blessing of the “Lassie Organization” so why couldn’t they have acquired the fresh negatives and struck novel prints?? While the episodes included are watchable, many have visual artifacts (scratches) and a grainy quality. Novel prints would have been more in order with a release such as a 50th Anniversary DVD collection. For example, every “Timmy and Lassie” episode in this collection opens with the 1959 opening, even if it was a 1960 or 1962 episode. Did they judge diehard babyboomer fans of this display wouldn’t peek?? Also, the opening of one particular “Jeff’s Collie” episode, looked very rough. The closing music on many episodes of Jeff’s Collie” had a wavy or unbalanced sound. The color episodes which were the newest and should have looked the best, were of dreadful quality. Again with mismatched opening titles and genuine episode years. They looked to be second or third generation copies…even the older B/W episodes looked better.

It would have been nice if surviving cast members could have done some narration discussing unhurried the scenes shooting or current episodes.

There ARE some marvelous things to say about this DVD collection. The episodes chosen were some of the best. The booklet by Ace Collins describing the Lassie anecdote is very informative and this status is packaged very nicely. The extras such as the current “ninja” Lassie G.E. commercial and other noteable Lassie appearances are fun to peep although again, the quality of some of these clips varies.

This DVD collection had such substantial potential and although I’m tickled I bought it, I expected so worthy more…Lassie fans deserved it and so did Lassie.

My review is purely from a parent’s perspective:

I have twoboys, 9 and almost 11. They adore Pokemon. They loved Ninja Turtles,Power Rangers, Star Wars, etc. so you know they are prone to being led by commercialism. Pokemon encourages nurturing, caring, and ideals like honesty, acceptance, and forgiveness. The genuine trainers protect and care for Pokemon. The poor guys exploit them and place their bear selfish motives ahead of the Pokemon. The middle-can-be-turned-around characters learn from their mistakes and are forgiven by the main characters. Even Jessie and James occasionally point to remorse and are treated with compassion.

Do Pokemon battle? Yes. Unlike Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, and Star Wars, however, a Pokemon doesn’t have to be pain or killed to be defeated. Their weapons are inner strengths that they are born with. And no trainer worth his salt lets his Pokemon salvage injured. It’s not hard to catch the lessons from Pokemon and apply them to the reality of the child.

It’s like Beanie Babies — I know they’re making a fortune leading our kids around by the nose. But it’s relatively benign and I scrutinize every video with them to beget positive nothing changes. On a long saunter in the truck, I let them play the two CD’s — the music is actually very scrumptious for me (and I’m 46!) and contains no terrible language.

And I liked Pikachu’s Vacation film powerful better than the valid Pokemon movie… but my boys loved both!

This movie is exellent! I loved it at the theaters. It was so chilly watching Mewtwo and Mew fight it out. Another thing that was cold is Pikachu Vacation mini movie. I got some trusty laughs over there though their really was fair only pokemon. The best section is when Raichu and Pikachu battle it out in a hurry. It also showed some pokemon from Gold and Silver. But even if you saw it at the theaters… Unruffled Seize IT. Chances are that you didn’t accumulate a card but when you prefer the VHS or DVD you come by the Mewtwo Promo card (I reflect it’s a promo card. If not impartial know that it is a Mewtwo, and it has the same attacks of the promo Mewtwo.) with a different recount. You also secure both Mewtwo Strikes Serve and Pikachu’s Vacation and a bonus….. A PREVIEW OF THE SECOND MOVIE!

Okay, if you’re looking for something light and fluffy your kids can leer, this is not it!! If you don’t accumulate it by the kid obedient title of “Devilman” and menacing demon on the shroud, then go ahead and by all means explain it to the grandparents as well! For those of you like me who listen to very heavy music at volumes loud enough to shake the walls, savor Dario Argento movies, and don’t mind seeing loads of blood and gore, then this might be the anime for you. Yes, the dubbing isn’t expansive, but that’s not the point. The fable itself is very attractive. Akira Fudo is an average student. When his friend, Ryo takes him to his house, and shows him a shroud that allows him to peek into the demon world, Akira is rightly freaked out (he wets himself okay) . Ryo then tells him that unless they both merge with demons, that they will never be strong enough to defeat the demons who killed Ryo’s father. They really don’t have a choice, it’s either merge and become a demon or die. And they really don’t have a choice about which demon they merge with (as Ryo puts it, if they don’t score one that is strong enough to defeat the others, then they will die anyway) . Akira merges with Amon, an incredibly remarkable demon, and becomes Devilman. Akira does not lose his humanity, but is able to control the demon to some extent. Highly recommended for fans of Urotsukidoji, Twin Angels, La Blue Girl, Mystery of the Necronomicon…

I got a sincere enormous kick out of this movie. Its references to classical mythology and biblical lore provided a serious backdrop to a mediocre and simplistic site premise. Construct no mistake, Devilman rocks. Volumes 1 and 2 are included on the DVD, don’t go looking for more, here are both 50 small OVAs. Volume one takes its time warming up but erupts into a bloody and thrilling climax. Volume 2 introduces a main villian and her attempts to raze Devilman. We don’t know why, and we aren’t told grand about his greater significance to the world. Devilman must extinguish demons, so demons notice out Devilman. There’s your record. The animation is helpful for its time. The dubbing is at best abominable and the DVD does not have the recent dialogue with subtitles. I doubt very mighty we’re missing a heck of a lot. Violent, chaotic, but loads of fun for adult anime fans. Don’t buy it too seriously. I especially enjoyed the assorted demons and their powers and manufacture. Delight In!
